Glad you like it Bob. And I enjoyed making it for you.:handshake: Merry Christmas!

It is red maple with spalting and ambrosia.

I still have the other half of the log here, i want to make a bowl for myself from it.

Well I wanted to wait til Christmas Day to announce my Secret Santa, because although it wasn't so "secret", it certainly caught me off guard and was an amazing surprise!

Last Sunday I was tinkering around with some of my saws in the basement bunker when my oldest son came down the stairs and said there was a "Firewood Hoarder" at the front door.....o_O

So I went upstairs to investigate the situation....:binoculars:

And indeed, there was a firewood hoarder at the door with a package! I was blown away to hear that this individual drove several hours, ONE WAY, to deliver this gift! I invited him and his lovely wife inside for a bit to chat, I wish we had longer to do so but as luck would have it we were due to go to my daughter's Christmas Chorus in a short time.

I asked the fella if i should wait til Christmas to open the package and he said it needed to be open promptly, so i did just that.

The gift was an awesome assortment of some prime cuts of steak, some venison sticks and venison hot dogs, a jar of old-fashioned sweet pickles and some micro brew ciders! And a nice card and letter to go along with it that carried meaning.

My Secret Santa was none other than Biddleman! Bob and his lovely wife Noel drove up from near York PA to hand deliver this present, and I was in no way feeling deserved of such a gesture.

The gift was perfect, but the best gift of all was meeting Bob and Noel. Two wonderful people whom I wish I had more time to chat with because I could see right away we were all cut from the same cloth. I consider meeting other FHC'rs the best gift of any that I could receive from this site. My wife and I were truly humbled and blessed to get to meet them both!

Thanks again Bob for the gift and the fellowship, look forward to another meeting hopefully with both you and your wife someday!

    How awesome!
Mine last year (one who already liked this post) also drove up quite a distance to deliver my gift. That was equally awesome!

Amazing! What an added bonus Biddleman and a fantastic way to :handshake: with the founder. Scott is a truly great American man, but also an example of how all members of FHC are the “real deal.”

I had stated earlier that I received 3 boxes from Amazon thinking one was SS and the other two were stuff I ordered. Boy was I wrong! Hookeroon, wedges, pouch, bar oil (the good stuff) and a field chain sharpening kit. What a Home Run. Thank you very much.

Plus, our cats have some of the best presents they could ask for this Christmas, 3 great boxes. Cleo thinks she owns all three.

I'm humbled buddy, I don't consider myself a 'great man' but I'm as honest and sincere as I can be. I wear my emotions on my sleeve (when I'm wearing sleeves lol) and sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes that's a bad thing. But I'm honest. I consider you all like family and I truly look forward to our meet-ups whenever we can make them happen. I hope you're doing well, give Fireflake a hug from me. Hope to see yinz two this coming year!

    Dear Secret Santa,
I'm not a scrooge, I love whatever it was you sent me. I just wasn't home when it was delivered and I won't be home for a few more days.

Your wonderful gift is safely stored in the post office or it's safely under cover on my front porch.

Don't worry Secret Santa, my house sits atop a 21% incline gravel driveway, covered by several inches of ice and snow, with more coming today and tonight. No porch pirate would attempt to get it. However, if for some reason it should catch fire, you'll be out a gift and I'll be in a motel until I rebuild!
