Since I last posted here an hour and a half ago, our temp has dropped to 24, the wind has picked up and it's snowing. I now see they are predicting single digit temps by tonight.
Cheapo outdoor thermo showed a high of 44 and low of -6 in 12 hours as of noon(est). Heard some cracks and thumps overnight but nothing major so far. That wind is brutal.
Super windy, cold but the roads aren't really all that bad. I almost think it would be better to quit plowing and forming berms, allowing drifts to form. Without berms the snow would just blow across the road.
55 turned into 39 by the time I got home at 3:30. The temperature dropped about 10 degrees over the past hour. Supposedly we’ll be in the teens by 9 tonight, then flirting with single digits by sunrise.
It was at least 55ºF noon time, on it's way down fast to a forecast 15ºF 32ºF right now and snow flurries. Very cold, gusty, westerly winds. Power went out 5AM supposedly due to tree limbs on wires. Printer turning on and off woke me up, there was a loud bang down the street somewhere and then pitch black dark. Power came back on around 7AM. I slept thru all the coming back on but the power company calling to let everyone affected know the power was back on.
We were at 34°F at 9am this morning we are sitting at -3°F right now.....we just got back from an emergency tree removal in a town just north of us, that wind is horrendous!!
Don't know exactly how fast the temp dropp but I don't think it was a dramatic sudden shift. At about 11:45 am, I my place saw its top temp of 52*. At 12:45 pm, the temp started dropping and it was 49*. At 5:30 pm, it was 38* and I know it was snowing about 8 pm. It has been 11* since I got up at 2:15 am. It is still pretty windy so I don't know if we will see single -digit temps or not.
Made it down to 11ºF . Still getting occasional light flurries from ocean effect snow a little to the south of me.
Burning locust in both stoves, this was late last night when we headed to bed.... And this is this morning, just reloaded the stoves..... Even with that horrendous wind overnight, only a few degree drop in temp from bedtime til now. No gas furnace required!! Love our woodstoves!! Times like this are when all that hard work pays off!
