Thanks, my son fired up our two generators today. Running good. He lives right upstairs with his family and works from home. I don't attempt to do anything outside. Even inside, that is limited. I really do appreciate the offer for help if needed. Lets pray we all stay safe and have a good Christmas
Wait a minute, todays forecast says -20 tonight, but the hourly does not. Lowest temp I see is 8 am tomorrow.
Just got home from helping my friends dad. He was burning in his wood stove and the house filled with smoke. He called me in a panic. His son now lives in Tennessee so he can't help him and my friend is wheel chair bound. My wife and I spent the last 3 hours taking everything apart cleaning it and vacuuming out the stove. He had somebody sweep the chimney this summer which consisted of brushing it from the top down onto the top baffle of the stove. It was clogged with creosote. I bring him dry wood but he gets heap vouchers for firewood and its not dry. Ssometimes his home health just picks whatever from the wood shed and not the dry wood. I did what I could for him but I'm going to have to check back with him later. At least he can get through this cold snap without burning his house down. We left him a chimfex and he has a carbon monoxide detector. Absolutely nasty. Probably a coffee can of this stuff in total. This is from burning since the end of October. We got everything back together and no smoke. The stove is old and inefficient. His setup drafts poorly, he has 8" pipe and a reducer down to 6" on the stove. My other friend has some stoves that we might be able to install for him that aren't as worn out.
I would definitely be giving that "chimney sweep" a call. He needs to be aware of the liability. Maybe he's one of those sweeps that runs a business and knows it all........
Eating Chili for breakfast at the workplace. Skipped breakfast earlier. We are going to get a storm. Did anyone hear about it?
His daughters room mate "cleaned" the stove pipe. He isn't a certified chimney sweep but he is a certified ding dong.
Same here. Boss told us yesterday to not work past noon today. Got it. I changed my workout session with my personal trainer at work to be at noon instead of my typical 3pm workout. I cancelled my workouts for next week, and I'll be cutting some wood to replace my workouts during the week. Walked the dog, shoveled the show off the patio, and bright a cart of wood into the garage. Took a nap listening to some Christmas music after a late lunch at home. We're about to watch Elf and national lampoon's Christmas vacation. We'll eat dinner too at some point.
Went to the other store this morning to learn how to use the walkie forklift. I'll be careful with that thing at first.. I share a first name with the guy I'm filling in for. Anyone calls and asks is this Zach, umm....yes and no...
