Another mixed load of cherry and hickory in the Lopi this morning. This year's cherry supply should be exhausted by tomorrow, which I'm okay with. Petrified long-dead cherry seems to leave me with a ton of leftover charred chunks that I either have to burn down or shovel out. :hair:Then again, the hickory I've been burning has me cleaning out the stove every week too, albeit it throws a lot more heat. It's a comfortably chilly 25 degrees out this morning.

Light snow changing to rain. Forecasters wrong again. What a surprise.

7 am was -13, with -49 wind chill. 40 mph wind gusts. But, we didn't get any of the snow amounts they were calling for. The ground didn't even get covered and they were calling for up to 6 inches.

House was 60 when I woke up. So the stove is loaded with honey locust and working to warm it up in here.

17/70. Temps headed down all day. Supposed to be @ 5* by 3 pm. Oak and hickory earning it's keep.

It's been nothing but snow here. It just got really heavy/thick there for a minute. Been coming down pretty decent for at least an hour now, light before that since I woke.

30/76 more chestnut oak and walnut.

It's 40 and overcast. Just a little sprinkle every once in a while. You'd never know the temp was going to drop 45* in 16 hours by the looks of things right now.

I plan on loading up the boiler with enough wood to send it into orbit around 2PM...that's when things are supposed to start getting nasty here. Should be good until late tomorrow AM.

-16 here with -37 wind chill, keeping the stove going strong with red elm and bur oak.
The real fun starts later today.

I'm at 54 degrees now and will be for most of the day, but this evening on into the night we are projected to be at 16 degrees. Fridays high will be 31 degrees which is rare for my area this early in the season. Winter has arrived! Stay warm my friends. :campfire: I have plenty of 2 year old Red Oak on stand-by ready to go.

-54 with breeze/82 in the house. Like Cash, I'm burning old growth doug fir. I don't dare get the house stove any hotter, she is cooking. Spending 45 minutes in the sauna then stepping outside to stretch sure felt good.

8" so far. Started late evening yesterday.

-2 now but nothing more than a breeze.

The storm warnings have changed into blizzard warnings.

It's stuff like this that keep me grounded. I want to whine about my zero degree temps and then see THIS ^

I'm assuming that's a wind chill temp, or at least I hope it is.

-37c/-35f outside right now with doug fir and larch in the box. The old husky sleeps inside at these temps. Seems like were all cold out west and up north. Stay warm!

Yikes, got me beat. Did our normal Sask weather zig instead of zag and head west?

Sitting at -24 C feels -34 C/ -11 F feels -29F today, and apparently only 2 more cold days to go until this moderates. Pine chunkies and ugly for breakfast.

Yeah usually you have me beat by at least a few degrees if not more.
