Anyone have a junker they want to part out, or know someone that has what I need? I’m hoping to avoid buying a good 261 to get a tank. I checked eBay a few weeks ago and the price for a parts 262 was nuts.
The bar end av mount slot on mine is cracked, so I’m not looking for the same. It appears to be a common break point on these saws.

No, AV is all rubber. One of the reasons I'm not a fan of the two hundreds.

The reason I ask is the 262xp does have springs, so I’m wondering if it can be converted with a 55 tank. 262 was Oranges first attempt at springs. It’s too soft, so I wouldn’t mind switching to rubber if it’s possible. I know 288 rubber could be used. To my knowledge only the 261 tank is a direct fit for a 262xp. It’s a killer saw you should get one.

    Here’s the 262xp

Do you think the 55 would work? Obviously the front spring would be deleted. Is the trigger contact to throttle linkage the same on the 55?

Looks like the trigger contact to linkage is different and I’d need to change the upper springs to rubber too. I know where a couple 261’s are. I just don’t want to pay for a good saw to pull the tank.

I don’t know the model well enough to be certain. But many parts are swappable, but not identical. Like the clutch cover. Seems like the tank swaps but you have to use the rubber rather than the spring
