Happy belated birthdays to wildwest and Oldhippie !!! I had today planned off, using sick days that can't be rolled over to 2023. I didn't do too much. Slept in. Brought in firewood, played with Hayden and took him for a walk around the yard. I didn't get my backyard fully fenced as I wanted to this summer/ Fall, but I'll probably temporarily put up a wire and t post fence for the rest of the fence that will eventually be the nice wood/ hog wire fence that will be visible from the front. That way I can take my time on the hog wire fence, and still have the back yard all fenced in. We are now seriously thinking of getting another dog, and if the right one pops up at a humane society/ shelter then we can act on it. That was the plan all along anyways, so might as well do it.
Caffeine! Another morning to plow snow early. We received about another 4-5 inches after I plowed yesterday morning. So probably somewhere around 9-11” total I’m guessing. Then it’s workhouse time. You hoarders have a good weekend!
Dang! I can only imagine how much we would have gotten if the previous 2 days of rain were snow. Fresh snow is always a beautiful sight in my eyes, until the work starts.
This was an interesting one the rain snow line is about 10 min south of me the next town over got all rain.
Warner we got about 10” but it is wet.. read pine trees are white and leaning gown at over 45 degree angle
Winter came in today. Lucky for me that my son does the clean up. Here are a couple pics from some of my family's home.
That was a real heavy snow. Ended up with 11-12" of packed down stuff. I had to shake (shake does not convey the amount of effort I had to put into it ) a branch to the crab apple yesterday to get it out of my way of snow blowing. That branch has never been that low before. It is normally about 8-10' up - I could get the snowblower under it, but not my 5'6" self (even leaning over the snow blower).
Yup same thankful for the tractor! we only lost power for a few hours during the night. Peterborough a couple towns away they are saying it probly won’t be back on till tomorrow.
Out of the weather for the winter. Got the sawmill moved in, still have to replace the motor on it but that won't take long now hopefully. My logs are inside too so they aren't out in the elements, they won't be as fresh as I'd like but I didn't intend to lose the motor in the mill. I'll pretty up the shed next year (I hope) but my priority now is to get cutting.
Happy belated Birthday to wildwest and Oldhippie Sorry to hear about your ribs wildwest, I know mine hurt for a couple months as well.
My driveway going out If I had a video over the years of people going off of it I would have just today my daughter got Bota stuck to be fair chains are not on it yet.. Sister came up and parked behind it on a hill.. stuck I am convinced people can’t drive Horkn Backwoods Savage and Well Seasoned have been to my house. My driveway is not that bad!! I have plowed many worse! Granted I probably get more traffic than most it’s time for a drink Daughter and niece got out after sanding edit daughter was trying to load wood from behind garage to rack next to stove room. Maybe 75 feet with tractor. It got to 33* and wet packed snow is slippery. Her and wife’s cars have studded snows
There you go young man, You have yourself a nice out building for your storage needs. Seems we never have enough storage room.
Hate it when equipment gets stuck. the dead end road to my home is up a steep hill, then down, but not so step on my end. Can't tell you how many times I went off the side and had to be pulled out or dug out. That was in the days of rear wheel drive. Then I got 4 wheel drive with the truck and all wheel drive with the family car. Now onnly have front wheel drive, but with snow tires on all wheels. Thing is, I don't go out unless I have to. Bad weather, I don't go out.
