3-4 inches of snow overnight with temps in the low 30's and 71 inside. Snow was really wet and stuck to the trees.
Cold raw day here. Big storm(rain?) rolling in later today. Looks to be a 36hr event. Over a foot of snow forecasted in northern New England. We might get snow on the storm's backside as it moves along. I wanted to top off my deck rack. I opened up a rack for this wood. 4.5 year red oak. I stacked it on the left side, leaving access to some shoulder wood at the right side. Storm ready! Up to 2 inches of rain for us, with gusty winds.
Freezing rain earlier turned to rain. Raw day. Had the stove cranking when I left with some oak. Wife and kids off from school so I'll probably have to refill the woodbox when I get home.
You my friend, will not be going cold! Nice vintage on the red oak. That'll sit in that firebox and crank btu's for many hours! Same as Biddleman here. It's trying like heck to turn back into freezing rain though. Adding 2 splits at a time during the day of chestnut oak and walnut. 34/75.
Really need a "Dislike" button for the forecast. Was misting on Rt 2 heading back to the woods this afternoon. It was 38 in Gloucester when I was there.....but the wind made me put the bibs and knit cap on
43/72 just started some elm and maple. Been raining all day. Some cold days and nights in the near future, hoping for a white Christmas.
38 burning red oak and kct. Hickory temps on the horizon, so I might finally have to change the filter and switch the thermostat to heat.
Right close to 32. Just filled the Wood Gun with Ash, and a couple small splits of what looked like old, Hard Maple. Looks like rain but sounds like sleet. I stepped outside, and when we do that before a winter storm comes in, it makes us realize how burning wood to heat your home brings such a good feeling. Appreciating even more, a nice, warm home.
77/43 red oak, ash and dogwood in the fireview. This time next week will be a high of 18 and burning 24/7.
Coal bed on the boiler was out of control so a half load of junk tonight. Should have a few embers to restart tomorrow AM... I hope.
37 w/ more rain. Mud is ankle deep. 70/30 mix of walnut and chestnut oak, 1 split SBH for good measure. 74 in.
We had a heck of a week so far. We are at a total of 12" of snow or so. The wind started up last night and now drifts are all over and 4 feet high in my backyard. The snow wont stop until about midnight tomorrow night. After this storm is through, next week won't be any better with temps plunging to 0 and lower. 20/72 Box Elder
Rain and 39 just miserable a load of chunks and end cuts locust and oak in the furnace 75 in the shop
