The sesame thighs were great but that wasn't the main flavor more of a background flavor and binder for the rub, they were bone in,skin on....I pulled the skin off....I'm gonna stick with bone in when I can. The cookies are fresh pepperoni sliced about 3/16 with low moisture mozz sliced about 3/8 double dipped in egg wash/panko itialin put in freezer before fryin
I'm gonna find a piece of stainless tubing to make a cutter for the cheese so it's the same diameter as the pepperoni
How many times do you reuse your fry oil? Was reading that commercial fryers have the heating element raised up off of the bottom so when bits fall off the food being fried, they end up below the heating element in a place that the oil is a bit cooler thus extending the life of the oil. Got me thinking about the Bayou and wondering how that setup works compared to a commercial setup. Those cookies look great!
SKEETER McCLUSKEY bone in are my go to 90% of the time unless I'm doing pulled chicken for tacos or something similar. Those cookies sound awesome! Gonna have to try them out.
Local butcher had 10lb bulk wings for $2.02lb this week so I ran over there yesterday after work to grab 20lbs. Unfortunately they had sold out for the day but the guy told me a 40lb case was only $1.25lb and he could put me down for a case today. Of course I said yes and ran back there after work today. Got 30lbs cut and vac sealed before the mrs had a work meeting on the puter. I left 10lbs whole and separated 20lbs. I'll tackle the next 10lbs after dinner.
I love getting wings from this butcher because they ain't tiny little things that look like they came off a dove lol. Big ol meaty suckers
i think i would go with the cajun rv like i have...and yes it is very efficient the money you save in oil will pay for it in less than a year (if you cook alot)
Same here. I cut the scratchers off the ones that separated. I was kind of in a hurry so I left them on the whole wings.
That’s a pretty good price. Poultry has been dropping a lot. Here(Buffalo NY area) I can grab a case of wings for 1.18/ pound and they are already cut. The restaurants won’t drop the prices though now that they got people used to paying! I know oil is still way up but come on, 15 bucks for a single order!!!
I picked up the bayou classic 4.5 fryer a few years back and it’s been great. It’s the same design as a R&V. I used one fill up of peanut oil all summer. I looked at the R&V works because it’s US made and I do try to buy US when I can but sometimes it’s just not in the budget. It wasn’t even something I really wanted but found the bayou classic on sale for 350.
Yep, 10 wings. There’s a place near me that charges 85 bucks for 50 and it’s packed every night. The wings are delicious but not at that price.
Haven’t really done much grilling/smoking lately. Think I’m doing brisket for Christmas Eve this year, something different. Made a chicken satay few weeks back that was delicious and some late night ribeye hoagies.
Dang! they're already cut!? I got ripped off . Yea wings have finally been dropping for a few months around here (south NJ). Not even six months ago they were over $5/lb! And you're right about the restaurants, they're not gonna drop their prices anytime in the near future. People are still willing to pay insane prices. There's a place around the corner from me that's widely known for their wings and people still drive from miles away to pay $15 for 13 wings. And man that chicken satay and ribeye sammies loom awesome!
Munchies will drive a man to get creative sometimes. And I’m not saying “munchies” in the way some would think, just to be clear.
