    You haven't gotten it yet?

    Too late!

If not a trailer, then a heavier truck might need to be in your future. Especially as a professional hoarder/vendor.

I snuck the last load of ash out this morning, not a full load in the wagon.....but its done. Im hoping to stack it and cover it before the snow later, then hit church activities. Its chilly out here today, been stackin since 7 or so. Hope your Hickory is still there!!

That was an amazing amount of wood there. I felt overwhelmed thinking about it when i left.

Brad knows darn well the beauty of a half ton is the more weight you drop on it the lower it gets allowing you easier reach to load more. Stiff trucks are for grocery shopping.

Made it back this afternoon for the shag. Lots of poison ivy to scrape off. Cleaver works great for that Deererainman. Cold brisk day with a breeze. Great day for wooding. IMG_2296.JPG IMG_2298.JPG IMG_2299.JPG Split the load at storage. Roughly a face cord. IMG_2300.JPG IMG_2301.JPG

Something I did, I think Stephanie gave me the idea. Put the splitter right against your tailgate, and use the gate as a bench to work off of. Pushing the half of the round you arent working first right onto the tailgate is easier and quicker.

I kinda do the same. Sometimes a half or chunk is too big for that small table and i plop it on the tailgate.

LOL!!! Im still trying to perfect it...trying that is! That pile of splits will get loaded back on the PU soon and moved into the backyard once the ground is frozen good.

Tailgate works great. We also have a oversized table at the splitter that works gooder too.

Does the Asplundh crew mind that you're there, taking "their" wood? Are they there when you are, or do you wait until they're gone?
I once stopped by when I hear/saw someone taking down a huge Maple near my house, and asked if I could have some. They said SURE. I went back twice the PACKED my Suburban full, before they were all done..

They dont care just as long as i dont interfere while they are working. They have a lerge truck that comes and picks up whatever is left there. It could be the next day or six months later. Ive talked with many crews and field bosses and i get told the same. If the homeowner wants the wood they are to put up a sign or tape. They are supposed to meet with each property owner and get their okay that the crew will be working there.

The biggest problem I find with the right of way crews is that they cant measure worth a darn. Follow any of the Asplundh crews around here and you'll end up with a Ford FULL of shorts/uglies. Makes stacking difficult. makes my adhd and ocd fight.

I hear you on that. Nothing like being able to cut you own length. Most crews that ive seen leave it in longer pieces...4' or more. That hickory trunk wasnt bad though.

The shorties and nuggets are an expected by product of cutting their wood. Sometimes ill leave it behind, but have a bin im filling with one year wood and another with multi-year. I figure at least a wheelbarrow full per PU full if i do take them.
