With the lights off last night, I saw light coming from the joining of the stove pipe and the wood stove. I'd like to seal that so it doesn't suck air from the room, but rather through the stove. I am thinking that a piece of door seal, tied tightly at the seam and pushed down on it, might work. I don't really want to use a glue or cement, as I'll be pulling this apart for cleaning seasonally. Is there anything else that would work better than door gasket material? SCA
I'd just dab a lil furnace cement in the gap...it will crack off easily enough when its time to remove the pipe.
Myself I like the gasket idea over the furnace cement. If I was going to use sealer I would try high temp silicone, it will take much higher temps than it is rated at.
https://rutland.com/collections/sea...roducts/seal-it-right®-flexible-latex-sealant I love this flexible product. Works great. Cleans up with water.
I'm a little concerned about seeing light through that area. Could you have burned through the inner wall?
Good thought. Its single wall right into the stove. If I look down into the seat where the pipe fits,.there is sometimes visible light. I kinda wish the fluted end of the pipe fit further into the hole, it seats.shallower than I would like. Sca
One wrap of loading door flat gasket wrapped to cover/fill the gap. Wrap it with a large stainless clamp. Looks choice as well It does work well, however.
