But it was free. Two used tires, little oil down the cylinder to free it up. Cleaned out under the covers and it started on the first pull. Runs good no leaks and the hydraulic oil looks brand new. For about $50.00 and a couple hours of screwing around I got a decent machine.
Yeah for sure. It's stiff enough I'll use it as a sawbuck to clamp 12' X 6" to 12" logs in for bucking. My saws tend to like to roll those small ones off the tractor forks. I hate working on the ground.
I don't know for sure, judging by pump and cylinder displacement I'd guess 28 to 30 ton. Plenty of power I think. Ha, yeah that's an understatement. Wait till you see it up close. I rolled it off the trailer by hand and about dropped a nut. I'd guess it at north of 700lbs.
You needed it...you just didn't know it before... I keep eyeballing the splitters on FBMP thinking that one of these days I'm gonna pop for some cheap thing like yours there that I can utilize as a good start for something highly custom...I haven't shopped today yet...I better go scope things out I'm usually a half hour too late for the good ones! I missed a cheap Super Split a few weeks back...dang thing was listed for a week or two and I missed it by a couple hours!
50 USD. Darn tootin you got a good deal. Why not? I can't get a quarter tank of diesel for fifty bucks.
Cool looking DIY splitter. Nice that you revived it and have the know how to do so. It'd be at the scrap yard if i had it.
Oh heck yeah! That thing is built stout! Look how tall that wedge is. Even if it needs some things replaced it would be worth it.
You may be right on that. It's heavy, that much I know. Surprisingly enough it actually moves pretty fast. I didn't time the cycle on it, but I will tomorrow. It only opens 25" so it's a fairly short stroke.
Thank you sir! Coming from such an expert in these matters I am deeply satisfied with my acquisition then. In all seriousness though, from one crap collector to another, thanks brother!
Looks like you got a pretty good deal for the price paid. I hope you have better luck with it than I have had with this one. Yours looks to be about the same height, if it is you won’t like that feature. But if you are using it as a vice to hold logs while bucking it may be perfect
