Noticed late last winter the knob on my blower was acting up. When you turned it to max level it would not put out max level it would ramp up and down and settle on a lower output level. If I turned the knob a touch before max it would crank like normal for the most part so that's how I ran it remainder of the winter. FF this year, still doing the same thing but if I back it off a touch its a much lower output. I've noticed the blower not putting out as much. If I turn to max it ramps up and down and can almost hear it click. Now if I turn the knob almost like I am going to shut it off, it goes to max output. That's how I currently have it but something is off, I don't' think it's the blower I think something with the knob unit for a lack of a better word. Knob is just on the other side of the small black box below. I will admit I disconnect the blower each year and remove to clean and lube where I can. This year I blew out with compress air, it was never so clean since it came from the factory. Hoping for a simple fix, lose wire or something, small adjustment maybe.
Your pic looks very familiar, I had the same exact issue at the beginning of this season. You need a new variable switch. It's called a rheostat. You can buy the exact replacement part (looks like an SBI blower to me), and spend a ridiculous amount for the same crappy rheostat, or spend much less on one that isn't OEM. The one I bought is higher quality and $7. Very easy to fix, you disconnect a couple of spade connectors, and reconnect the new switch. Easy Livin' 3000 I cannot thank you enough for this. What a huge help, especially with the terminology, sincerely appreciate it . Will look into this to replace, right now I don't want to touch it till I replace it. It's running at full nicely so the house is getting nice and warm. However my wife likes to often turn it down during the day as she gets to warm. Thanks again!
