Bought this used trailer this summer. Broke it in with some cherry that was recently cut by the roadside. The trailer and using my big handtruck made things a lot easier.
Great little trailer there Steve with some nice wood to boot. Will you load truck and trailer with wood or just trailer?
I don't mind the trailer. Only having a small truck at the time it allows me to get more wood on the trailer versus the truck. Not beating up the truck and if I grab a load and don't have time to deal with it right away I can just park the trailer and leave it until there is time to take care of it. Nice to have the ramp to just roll them up.
The trailer and hand truck is a lot better for my back. But, if I the right score of wood came around I may have to go back to my excessive ways, lol
I see I'm not alone. I put my plate on the back ramp too. After moving it around the yard and driveway, the plate got bent. Just waiting for johnny law to say something since it's not lighted.
I have the same trailer... just no so shiny. And, also mounted the plate on the ramp. Had some cherry in it this past weekend too!
Not sure where else I could have mounted the plate. I hadn’t even thought about it not being lit. Maybe the cop that pulls me over can give me some ideas, lol.
Check for a mount under one of your rear lights. That's where mine is and it hangs the plate terribly low. Bottom of that light has a clear spot in the red to illuminate the plate.
Nice trailer and nice work on the cherry. You can really load a lot into a trailer. It's better in the tow vehicle too. I love that we didn't need to license trailers in this state until they get pretty large. I hated that a small trailer like a 4x8 needed to be registered when I lived in Maine.
We are! Although now I'm concerned about no light on the plate. Didn't think about that when I moved it... I figured it would be move visible and legible mounted on the ramp than it would be getting all bent up and busted from being mounted low under the tail light.
Same here , I'm still waiting too. I see so many trailer with no light on the plate or even no lights at all , maybe missing fenders. A ton of trailers that are way worse than what I have. I figure that as long as my lights work I should be in good shape.
I have, and amy trying to find a home for, the same trailer. $800 new 5 ish years ago. A piece of plywood on the floor will keep that grating good, especially for tossing wood in there. I also put 2' plywood sides on, partly to hold more, but mostly to keep smaller rounds or splits from jumping ship under the rail. Never had issues with mounting the lic. plate on the tailgate. You should be fine. There's these braces that sandwich between the light and the bracket. They just hang so low. Could maybe flip the light and put the plate over the light?
