This the basswood/Linden I split this weekend. I am new to to wood game so not sure how it burns. But it is stringy in hard to split.
Basswood. Notice on the endgrain picture where the wood fibers are fuzzy....very characteristic of basswood. I have a bunch of rough sawn basswood and it's all like that. It is very light wood but stronger than pine...comes in handy for some projects that need to be light weight.
Burns fast when dry and lower BTU. Not to sound snobbish, but I won't bother with it unless getting paid to remove it. Goes into the campfire wood pile.
Split small it makes great kindling. I need to get cutting on some that's been down and off the ground for a couple years. Putting a saw to it will tell me if it's too far gone. The last stuff I split wasn't stringy but it was cut only a week or so before splitting.
