I'll get a picture of the break-in page in the manual.

I work on them for a living and I’ve never done it with my own. But I look inside every one that comes in for port work and advise the owners from there

This is the only thing listed in both the MS201 and MS241 manual as far as break-in.

I may have over looked it, but didn't see a break-in recommendation.

I didn't have time today to get it out of the box. I ended up playing Santa with gift cards to some families our Conservation Club adopted.

Mine have it listed under operation. There is no specific heading in the table of contents.

...........not sure I ever read the manual cover to cover.

    Guilty!!

You aren't missing much. They are concerned about you hurting yourself more so than familiarity with the tool.

    I've read it and that's a fact.

Here's what Stihl says about oil:

I've gone through it twice, I'm probably missing it, but it's not obvious to me.

Can you tune a 500 I rich? I figured it was all computer controlled. EDIT: Saw the response in your other post.

Still learning about computer controlled saws.

So 500i is fuel injected. How would the brain control the fuel with different oil ratios I wonder.
A heavier oil ratio in theory makes it less fuel and less oil means more fuel. I know the difference is minimal and wonder if the wonder chip can even tell a difference.

The “chips” search for maximum rpm in the cut and adjust from there. As long as it has the mechanical and electronical ability to add more fuel, it will if it requires it

I’ve noticed, most recently with my 462, that when I pull out of a wot cut and release the trigger it takes a second for the saw to find idle after trigger release.
