T.Jeff Veal It is sad that most children today do not know about the birth of Christ Jesus and what it meant for the world.
I was going to cut some more firewood today. But ended up working overtime this morning. Then out at noon and home for a quick lunch with my wife and college age daughter who brought her boyfriend home to meet us. Seems like a nice, polite, young man. Then it was off to a Funeral for a neighbor who raised her children next to the house I grew up in. It was a nice service. I was thinking of cutting some firewood for two hours after that. But decided I was going to relax instead. There is a cold breeze out there and a warm couch and a World Cup game inside. France and England are battling it out. Currently 1-1. I am winning my battle with the slices of Gouda Cheese, Summer Sausage, and a drink. Next will have to be a few crackers with cream cheese and hot pepper bacon jam. I’m a pretty competitive fella like that.
Changing rear brake pads in the garage and Roscoe sounds the alarm. I go out to see what’s up. He’s having a show down with this: Part way into December and the garters are out?
Finished stacking some Red Oak, 1.75 cord. I need to burn more wood to make space for the other 3 cord that is split. Edit. I was only going to 4' high before but I need to go more vertical now so i don't have so much real estate taken up by wood.
Drove by the old South Platte Hotel today as the sun was setting. Pretty cool! It was the scene of some pretty raucous bar fights and shoot outs back in the day. The railroad track is now a dirt road along the river. I took the pic. Here’s a link to some history. https://cdn5-ss12.sharpschool.com/UserFiles/Servers/Server_834541/File/Our School/Press Clippings/2018 Historically Jeffco - South Platte Hotel.pdf
Friend of mine wrote this... I saw some trees standing tall With my chainsaw made them fall Through the woods the tractor crawls To a roadside a truck to haul When back home split it all Stacked it high in some walls Now the season returns to Fall And it’s time for you to call This poem is called “A year long process” I’m posting it now as the wood burning season starts, Hope you enjoy!
Between large wood piles and get a couple goats, pretty much eliminates mowing, am I right?! Then the mower can be sold and money used to upgrade the saws/splittah! Win/win!
Looks like we both have the 27th and the 28th received to pick whatever the better day is. My wife and I will more than likely go to their house for New years Eve as well. Hopefully my wife doesn't change her mind about going to NYE.
