I read enough reviews that the Oregon 310-120 looks pretty good. Good enough to put it on my Christmas list to my wife.
I think it will be fine for what you want. Once you get it dialed in just be gentle and you will be good to go.
main difference between imports and Oregon( really it also an import) is the motor specs. Qc might be a bit better also. I will get some pics of the dgg6 tonight.Haven't had much chance to play with the RS2.
Cheap grinder. Pricey wheels. Made a big difference over the pink stones that came with it. And yeah, I set it up right in the living room. Ran out of room in the basement Use a couple welding magnets to catch the dust.
I like your work bench and stool ! Very jealous ! What make and model grinding wheel did you go with ?
Diamond Wheels | Chainsaw Wheels | Discount Diamond Wheels | Diamond Plating | Grinding Wheels The stool was an experiment to see how much green tulip would check. Cut it up, dragged it in the house full of snow. Plopped it on top of a heat register near the front door. Sat there for 25 years until I needed it. The idea at the time was to build a bar with stools out of a solid piece of wood. Never did the project. The table is Ash. Much newer, cut for the same reason although I knew what I was going to do with it.
I have a HF Chicago Electric sharpener. It's not the best, but it works for me and the price was right. Someday I may upgrade to a better quality brand. Sure beats the heck out of hand sharpening. Did that for around 20 years before getting my sharpener. The sharpener is faster, more accurate, and easier.
Basically not at all. Some light surface checking that could be sanded out but no radical splits. The Ash checked a little more but still not terrible. Tried it years earlier with some nice maple cookies, possibly red maple. They split into almost two pieces
Very nice, now you are talking: I've got a Silvey 510 for 3/8ths and 404 Oregon 511AX for .325 Tecomec with prototype Silvey style vice for rakers. (Note the rails) Nielsen 100
That pic is a few years old, it was then. It is probably one of the purchases I have been truly happy with.
