Don't complain too loudly or you find the price staying the same and the quantity shrinking like everything in the supermarket.

that's already happened! Don't worry, at some point, some marketing genius, most likely in the Big Boxes, will come up with a bag that's lighter, like 33 pounds, and will market it BY THE BAG, and uninformed folks will be aghast at how cheap THE BAG is, and buy it, when, in fact, the price PER POUND, will likely be more.......but you guys are too smart for that, right?

(yup, no smilie menu, once again, for me.....)

You don't mean a 15kg bag like they sell in all of Europe...(15 kg = 33lbs).....currently in the US most everyone sells a 18.1 kg bag or 40lbs.... but the smaller bags are certainly out there and available...
Ourselves and several other mills bag the smaller bags and ship to Europe (mainly Italy) in containers...so it wouldn't be a big stretch to do something smaller.......but no plans to do so that I am aware of.....

I remember when the fancy Pepperidge farm cookies that come in the bags (the round ones) were a fairly decent size. You buy a bag of them now and they are about the size of an Oreo. Has the price gone down? Nay!

That explains a lot of it. Us older critters have considerations to take into account.

I have a son and I'm hoping when he gets older he'll be able to help me with things like loading pellets, mowing the lawn etc etc

If this helps anyone, dear husband unloaded and stacked 180 bags of Heartland early this morning, none of them broke. Maybe the bags are stronger? Interesting because he always loses groceries by carry the paper bags in the manner you described.

EDIT, just asked, he did one bag at a time...

I too have a son and he is older than you. I also don't expect him to help me lug pellets or mow the lawn as he is many states away from here. If you look around a lot of us pellet burners are just a bit older than you and wouldn't attempt to lug 3 bags in the manner you do, we would likely end up in the hospital or at the very least needing casts and PT afterward.

I'm 39 and two bags at a time is plenty for me. I keep them in the pole barn, move 10 bags or so to the attached garage, then carry them into the basement as needed.

I'm with Will. 12 ounce curls are much more fun.

I'm 63 and 1 bag is all I want. And like you and Will, I prefer the 12 oz. curls too.

I have to wheel mine around the house and then back accross the basement. Put 7 in a wheel barrel then onto a mover dolly. Push the dolly accross the basement and stack. About 2 hours for 3 tons solo. Got 5 in today.

I'm older than most everyone in the pellet forum. So is my wife.we are both physically challenged, but we do move the pellets. Right now, the back of the van and the truck are waiting to be unloaded. My daughter has to move some furniture out of my garage so I can back in. We move the pellets with a cart. Not too bad to drop them from the back of the truck into the cart, then toss into stacks. Two years ago, we moved three tons in three hours. I have upper body strength, poor mobility and balance. She pulls the cart over, then I unload it. In the winter, when the ground has snow on it, we use a kids plastic sled. But what we found that works best, is the leave the stash in the garage alone, then buy 12 bags. the store loads the van, then we back up to the porch and in come about a weeks supply of pellets.
