PXL_20221204_183229223.jpg working up some freshly cut bl that I'll burn a few years from now. Once the bark comes off I can get them to my place for their date with the isocore. Learning a new phone right now so apologies if something comes out derpy.

We have a good bit growing here, that’s mostly BL in the background. I figure about 8 cords here. I can cut a little when I feel like it because it’s at my mother’s. She had these thinned because they were blocking her sunsets. Yep, be happy to clean that up for ya.

I got my first BL score this Spring. About 2.5 cords. Some was dead and no bark already, so I'm looking forward to trying some next year.

You notice if it dulls the chain more than other woods? I've cut a bit, not much. But I have quite a bit of it, if I want to.

Sure does, especially the dead stuff with no bark.

Just an off topic FYI here Gark , that sawbuck is really well built and works well sir! Many thanks.
As Brad said, the dead bark less stuff is a bit harder on chains, but if you have it available get all you can. Great heat & long lasting heat!

I know you were. We milled some last year. Looke back in the miiling forums and youll see them.
I still have it stickered here. I used a 4" thick slab as a bench on a couple BL stump cut offs. One milling error board was used for a wheelbarrow repair but thats it.
Hopefully someday i will make something out of them. I have a couple requests for four legged raised beds. Cedar poles for legs and BL for the rest.

    Brad has as have I.
I was surprised by its dimensional stability. No cup, no twist, no checking. I didn’t even stick and stack it. Just leaned them against a wall in the basement. Haven’t worked it much. Used a board for a battery base on my log arch. It does split easy like an oak. Drive a screw near the edge and it will split unless predrilled. Sort of a normal thing.
The leftover from that board is still outside in my excess treasures pile. Leaning on its butt edge ground contact. Forget the number but at least 12” wide board. Hasnt cupped from the weather or ground.
Unlike my White Oak ramps I made for the trailer. Toss those on the ground and they bend into all sorts of shapes.

PXL_20221204_180219303.jpg the 372 was making quick work of these months old logs but I only ran 1 tank through it. I'm taking my time trying different chains and fine tuning the carb. I imagine if Buzzsaw Brad was on this score with that 500, most of this wood would be on that poor old Ford by lunchtime

Poor old Ford nuthin'. Hard workin', wood haulin' F150! :dex:

I got to thinking and the 500 hasnt cut that much BL. I dont get it in large sized rounds that often. 16" bar handles at least 75% of BL i cut.

Jealous how "easy" this is for you. I was hacking through prickers, tripping over vines at my BL cut today and thought of this thread. Ill enjoy watching your progress.

That’s great firewood. How’s it splitting for you?
