The Yukon does well for us here in southern Indiana. I have no issues with it. It does creosote the secondary heat exchanger badly when the outside temps. Are warmer and it idles. When it is cold out it really shines and is capable of putting out some high BTU's. Heating 2700 sq. Ft. With it. We use about 3 cord a year with it on the 3 year plan. My flue comes apart at the furnace easily and I can clean the exchanger in 15 min. With little effort.
me: cute, someone new like me! Maybe has one little stack, just learned the concept of “seasoning”, he sure is going to learn a lot here! me: oh, wait, he actually seems pretty serious me: d*mn, this guy knows his stuff Welcome, Brokenstone!
Welcome aboard. Lots of knowledgeable folks who are willing to share. Guarantee these folks will bug you for pics. Start with your stacks.
So 15 cord for 35 years, .42 cord per year. I like the numbers. Again, welcome. yup, same here. Started with casual loads of cordwood cut to whatever length, has morphed into enough wood at my place to make the neighbors worry about the next tornado dumping it on their house....and a constructive compulsion that keeps us warm and comfy, and me very busy. Came home and split everything thats been cut, including what buZZsaw helped us cut. Now to haul it home and find a storage space for it.... What a place.
Hi Brokenstone! <<<<<<<Is jealous. Every time I have a 3yr plan it goes up in smoke. I'm not going to post pics of stacks because I dont stack. I'm feeding 3 - 4 stoves. stove 1 is a Jotul F45 in a 1830's schoolhouse. Stove 2 is in a 1780s farmhouse. 3-4 is in the barn next to said farmhouse. I fill up bins made from pallets and toss whatever I have to keep the rain and snow off or the operator of stoves 2,3,4 takes them and empties them in the barn or on the farmhouse porch. How much wood do I go through in a year you ask? most of it is the only answer I can give.
I just did a 384 stem cut of a hundred thousand board foot plus on my 40 acres that hadn't been cut in 70 years. I have so many high quality tops I will never get to it all. It kind of motivated me to register. I had been lurking for several years.
The "Bottoms" is north of me a few miles. I have caved there several times and mapped there. I am three miles north of Owensburg and a mile west of the state highway. Koleen is nearby.
Welcome aboard! I was up in your neck of the woods a year or so ago. I mess around with some genealogy and stopped into the Greene County courthouse to get a copy of an 1844 marriage record for my great great grandfather Emeziah Moser. It’s a pretty area. I’d like to get up there again and look around some more.
