I could see it holding good coals to the 8 hour mark. But not solid heat. Cold here is single digits with average winter temps around 30 or so. I go to bed around 10 and get up at 4 for work so I'll make do.

My folks are in the same boat. Dad just told me today they want something bigger that will hold fire all night long.

I thought they where getting an Everest 2 which has a 2.6 cf fire box. That would have been more then enough. I've got plenty of coals to get it rolling when I wake up. Haven't burned anything but ash yet so I figure the better hard woods oak, locust, hickory, and mulberry will get me close to 8 hours.

They got an Ashley. Dad found it new/unused for a good deal. Didn't realize how small the firebox was till we got it home and installed. I'm on the hunt.

PXL_20221203_021241002.MP.jpg Starting to really like this insert. Waiting for the ash embers to burn down some then load it with oak for overnight. Will be the first true overnight burn as my FIL is usually up once or twice a night and checks it. There out of town for the weekend and I don't plan on checking it till morning.
