As I mentioned already, we have a bernese mountain dog. The coldest weather we had so far was single digits and snow and wind. After it hits 71-72 for an indoor temp here, it prefers outside. We will let it out and it is laying on top of the snowbank from me plowing or just laying on the deck sleeping! During the summer months, it hated going outside until sunset. When it did have to go out, it would look for the nearest shade and plop itself down! May have to give it a haircut next summer.
It was a small puppy (at least it started out that way!) that constantly looked for cooler ground/shade. Funny thing though, it would only go into the lake up to it's belly. And that took all summer to accomplish.
This is a really cool story! (sorry if its been posted before). This pup knows the names of over a thousand different toys. And can pick it out with his nose, touch it with his paw, or retrieve the selected toy as commanded. I've always known some dogs are smarter than others, or quick learners, but this is amazing.
It's amazing how fast I forget things, as Maple was a puppy only 7 years ago! Puppies are HARD WORK! Getting by, barely lol!
Puppy has learned that a nice sit gets him treats. He runs in aftrr potty-ing and sits for a treat. Today he learned to shake. And he climbed a couple wood stacks on his walk. He likes to climb. Made his first trip to DQ tonight. But he was too tired. He slept right through it
I was doing dishes this morning and could hear some noise. Scratching and thumping... i said, where you at puppy? And he came sliding out from under a big stainless work table in the kitchen. Lol
Yeah, I heard some "noises" this morning around 2:00 and thought I'd better look around. He came sulking out of the guest bedroom with a very relieved look on his face.....and a very offensive odor trailing right behind him! I think it is the 2nd time that happened since getting him. The bernese has never done that.
More Max pictures. Still my favorite, about a week after finding her dumped way up in the hills. On the bed tucked into the laundry just out of the dryer, end of January . Owl
