Grab it. We'll go cutting with 500, 400, 034's in tandem. Gonna have to be a big score though as thats a lot of chain saw.

I’ve heard a few different stories on the red lever. Some saws had the red lever during their first couple years of production. I don’t believe the red lever meant the saw was hot out of the box, but many early Stihls of that era had better port timing before they were handicapped by the epa a few years later. From what I’ve seen, it may or may not run better than a black lever saw, but it probably doesn’t run worse

You stole it Brad! I have 2 red lever 034's. One is a super. Great reliable firewood saw.

I think it was just a thing Stihl did perhaps to visually distinguish the master controls lever from any other knobs/caps on the saw. Was on a lot of early 0xx series saws. I have seen it on early 1123 saws (021/023/025). But red lever alone doesn't signify anything performance related other than many of the models it was found on were better tuned (for performance) than later revisions.

One could write a book (and many pages of forum threads exist!) on all the variations found in the 1125, 1121, 1122 and 1128 saws. Some for performance (024 -> 026, 034 -> 034S), some for durability (064 -> 066), and of course most for emissions. (044 -> MS440, 046 "D" to the later 046 and especially the MS460, 066 flat-top vs 066 hump)

That’s the golden price. I hardly pay more than that for any used saw

I was wondering if this was a Mike price or not.

I came across the 288xp similar to that. Needed crank seals and a piston. Paid $75.00

Have the father in laws old saw now. Served him well for many years. Bought brand new and was the one saw in his one saw show for the majority of those years. Cut at least 10 face cord a year to heat his home. Sometimes more but never less. Only time it gets used now is cutting firewood for myself in the woods where we used to cut. 627B0C54-691F-409C-9DB2-173886F1F66D.jpeg E08F7213-8513-4701-92E5-2A2272FF567E.jpeg
