Moving some pin oak for my friend to use. His son had a huge dead pin oak taken down last Winter. Yard tree and too dangerous for me to fell. Random length tree service rounds, mostly too short. Will need to noodle the trunk wood to load. It was dead when taken down and im wondering what the MC is now? About a face cord stacked in his yard awaiting the splitter. Him and i will process this Winter. Ill get the rest soon.
It couldve been better. Told him id move it in March when i took down the sugar maple next to the pile. Bored to Death Sugar Maple
Nice! Looks like they're all set for the winter before this little pile? I bet the MC will be high all around. SCA
Nice wood if you can wait a few years. I bet if you took some of those smaller rounds and squeezed them tight you might find water oozing out of the ends. Don't get me wrong I'd take them and be happy I got them but I'd wait for them to season.
It does when i use the wheelbarrow. I prefer the truck though. Its rare there is no wood crumbs in the back. I do blow it out...not as often as i should.
Years ago I stacked a bunch of large rounds of the ground on a pallet and top covered them. A few years later I went to process them and what wasn't mush was seemingly wetter than when I put them there.
Needed the ground to freeze so i can bring a load into my friends back yard again. Been too wet and squishy. Wind chill was a bit fierce but the 400 and i got it done. Serious growth rings. Yard tree with full sun. Before After Maybe a half load left ill get tomorrow while ground is still frozen.
Looks like you got it just in time if that is indeed fungus on some of those rounds. Keep it stacked and off the ground and the fungus probably will die or at least not spread. Good score!
Him and i will process it within the next couple months. Im building a big nugget bin for him and wanna get that done first as there's a lot of shorts and nuggets in the load. I didnt want the wood.
Noodled up the rest today and got it moved. Cold crisp Winter day in the teens. One log started shooting purple noodles and after i finished the cut i found the metal. Sliced right through it. Didnt dull the saw too bad and finished without a field sharpening. Figures as its a new chain thats been sharpened once! Dang yard trees! Over a cord for him. We'll get it processed in the next couple months.
