It's unfortunate that we didn't catch you before you dulled a chain. But, is a lesson unfortunately..
chipdrop. com Hint, sign up to take logs and chips. This choice increases your chances of getting logs. If you don't have room or time for chips the point is mute. I get one drop a year.
I don't sign up for it, I'm lucky in a sense I have 2 good friends in the tree service business! When I need wood, I just call and put in an order unless I scrounge. Only issue is, I can't be picky on size within reason. Some of you have seen some of those rounds I have gotten in the past! 42" was the biggest I think...
Nice score. I got a chip drop this past spring. Guy said nothing was over 18" wide.....that turned out to be very inaccurate lol. But I can't complain with a load of free oak and maple. The saw went through it no problem, it was moving it around that was a PITA.
Got off work early yesterday and went at it. I got it all in some what manageable sizes (some are still really hard to wrestle) so I can now split. I felt it last night, my body ached, lol!!! Good advice on the Motrin and plenty of adult libations today
Absolutely, lesson learned and something I won't ever forget. Learning new stuff all the time on here, it's great for the mind. I was able to sharpen it up and kind of work out the dinks a bit. It was cutting pretty good yesterday afternoon.
Hi Warner, keep me informed on the Chip Drop. I have plenty of woods to play in via the landlord.......but it's a lot less time consuming to have someone dump stuff in a pile for you. Also seriously considering stepping into the FW business.
SWEET!!! I know you didn't complain, Not in New Jersey. Trees are a "Hot" commodity around here, except after storms! Then I can get all the Maple I want!
Interesting. Most of the tree companies around here take the logs and branches over 4" in diameter back to their yards and process it for firewood and sell it as a value added product. You have to specifically request the wood or it's gone. Under 4" gets chipped.
Well I signed up 4-5 years ago and haven’t seen a chip or stick so I’m not counting on it. With the price of utilities tree crews are either chipping everything for bio mass or selling it as firewood. I have contacted many tree services telling them they can dump in my yard if needed. Nada has come if it. there is a member here that has a property in south west NH that was offering up a bunch of pine logs. Not sure what the current status of that wood is tho.
Still there! Anyone want's about 6+ cord, go get it! I'll give you the coordinate's, Lat and Long and address if needed...
I keep offering up the huge pile of Mulberry and hard maple saw logs I have in the side lot but no takers. You'd need a pretty large chainsaw to cut some of them up as the diameter of some of them is 3 feet. Don't have a wood stove, just 2 bio mass (pellet and corn) stoves.
Some awesome stuff there! Sounds like you shoes the perfect time to deactivate the account. Find out real quick how tolerant your neighbors are when you get a couple truckloads of logs dropped on the edge of the road in the subdivision Anybody start asking about them yet?
