Some may call me cheap, and I'd have to agree with them. Over the years I have scrounged or saved materials for a future shed. When I tore down my old deck, I saw a pretty useable base. Cut it in half and moved it in place. And there it sat, until over winter break Covid hit and I wasn't wasting vacation time on my azz. My neighbor scored rolled rubber roofing so I laid that on top of doubled up OSB that had been used to cover window openings. Not a single piece was square so that was... interesting.
Posted these in the milling section, but when a neighbor was taking down some pines I saw my chance for siding. The covered section will be my kid's clubhouse. Yes, I begrudgingly shared but they are helping with the build. Needs a door and some finishing touches. I had hoped to run some horizontal pieces on the actual woodshed portion but I ran out. Another day I'll mill that up. So total cost is in paint, stain, drip edge, polycarbonate panel for the windows, and fasteners. Probably 3 bills when it's all said and done. I'll have to add a last finished pic, filled of course!
Corners with siding? No, I'm too lazy and I don't think I can come up with something cost effective but good looking. Proper way would have been vertical corner trim boards..... but its a kids clubhouse! The open end for the actual woodshed, yes, but I ran out of material. Done for now until I can add those horizontal boards (spaced) but that needs a victim and a mill day.
That’s a work of art! Around here that siding is called Adirondack or Hog siding. I love scavenging wood, it’s a lot harder now that new wood is so expensive. I could find used decks for free and now they want good money for them.
Nice! The scrounged woodshed title makes me think of one I seen today...looked like they took a second story deck (moved out to the backyard...so its now free standing) threw a rubber roof over the deck floor, and stacked wood under it...it was over the hill in the backyard a bit so I couldn't see what the wood was sitting on...good idea though! Could put it next to a tree, a ladder up the side, and call it a "wood shed/tree house" too!
