I had strongly started considering the EGOz till System's comment. So I looked back at the Echo, for the saw replacing the 58v. Looks like the 56v dcs 5000 is getting good reviews. And echo was the way I was leaning months ago...

The other morning before we left for work, the wife and I were talking about something, don't remember what it was. But I said "And I want to get one of those battery saws soon. " She goes "Well it can be your birthday present..." In a micro second i was thinking "my bday is in july,, crap that's a ways away..."

Then she says "cause I didn't get you anything." Then I realize she means "get" in past sense as in last bday! Woo hoo!

Link to a thread I made asking about a website where I found the saw.....

    Website "treestuff.com" review?

Just to see if anyone on this one (who hasn't looked at that thread) has any info....

I have no problem ordering from unknown places. That said, when I do, I always call first and verify stock status. Lots of small sites have inaccurate inventory and it's quite irritating to get an email a few days after your card was authorized saying the item is backordered...

I finally got a little time with the saw Sunday afternoon. Not long, got home from church late and had a special evening Thansgiving service. Had some limbs in the yard that needed to be bucked. Some Ash, Elm and red oak. Ash and Elm were 2 liter bottle and smaller, red oak was maybe 10 inches or so. The saw cut well. My bar oil was cold and thick, and I'm guessing not oiling that well since there's no engine for heat to warm the oil. I think it's going to be a great saw for limbing a tree, cutting stuff off fence lines and the like. I wore earplugs anyway...the sound reminded me of an electric hedgetrimmer, at least with the plugs in.

It's weird at first to let off the trigger and the saw just stops (after a second or so), but not that constant noise... And one of the best parts was I went inside, changed and went back to church....didn't reek of 2 stroke exhaust after cutting for just a few minutes!

I only ran about half the battery, so don't have any kind of report on run times or amount of cutting...

I want to get a Stihl 2 in 1 for this saw. It takes a 5/32 file. When I looked at the sharpeners, they were in mm. From what I'm finding, I think the 4.0 mm the correct one? The chain is 91PX, 3/8 LP.
