After running an Echo CS-450 for fire wood cutting that I bought second hand off a dealer for the last 9-10 years, I upgraded this past weekend. Basically an early Dad's Christmas Gift from my family (love them!). Decided to stay in the Echo line as I felt I had learned pretty well how to take the CS-450 apart and put it back together again. We welcomed an Echo CS-590 Timber Wolf. The increased power (45 cc to 59.8cc), added bar length (16" to 20"), and more teeth really made light work of this fallen red oak on our property. The neighbor said he instantly knew I bought a new saw because it sounded different. I was actually just looking all over the place to find something else to cut. The CS-450 is still running and will be my back up saw or for delimbing/smaller piles. And the best part was spending time with my little man who helped me out - he prefers a husky. To each is his own I suppose.... Safety Third!
Nice that you have a helper , enjoy that first! Great that you now have a two saw plan. Never a bad thing!
Nice saw! I have over 30 saws at the moment....husky Stihl and echo....tis my opinion that echo saws are just as good as the two more worshiped brands.... My echo cs620p out cuts my 562xp husky everytime...by slight margin, but still... Echo saws are known for improved power after break in, so it's going to get better with time.....my 620 had good power right out of the box, but after 15 or so tanks of fuel.... it's really mean!
My first saw was the cs-590. It has been really reliable and IMO a great saw for the $$$. I grab it most of the time. Ive had zero issues and I'm not one to baby tools.
I heated my house for years with a 34cc echo. That saw never failed me and I put it through a lot of wood that it wasn't meant for. I think they are a great value.
