I was a late bloomer and didn’t get my first piece of ash until 2 years ago. Eab was later to arrive here. My first eab ash removal was a 36” biggun. buZZsaw BRAD s favorite! I’m burning that tree now and I like it. Lights up easy, good burn time/stamina, leaves a good bed of coals, acceptable heat output. I’m gonna miss it when it’s gone.
I feel the same, it's a good all-around firewood. Ash that's still worth cutting is becoming scarce in my immediate area, the large scale die-offs having started a decade ago. I'm going to save some logs just for milling when I'm in the twilight of my time here.
Likewise! In the big 'ole temps and what are you burning thread, my response for most of this year will be Ash.
Don't see much of it around here. I did score some sweet ash few years back, I really did like it perfect all around firewood qualities.
I have a trailer full of it waiting to get split. I usually split ash by hand except for the gnarly pieces.
I've bought 3 loads of cut and split ash this fall to supplement the other wood I have (mostly maple and walnut) to sell. I can get all I want and it saves me the time of processing.
I have a lot of dead or dying ash in the conservation land just behind my house. Had a pretty tall one snap 15' up up in yesterdays wind storm. Its about 100' from my backyard.
I am burning my first ash, I just never see an ash tree here anymore and I am looking! One died in a neighbor's yard and I got enough scraps to give me some firewood, somebody got it before me. I really like this as firewood, I am impressed!
Some guys just get all the ashes. Big ash, little ash, short ash, tall ash, narrow ash, wide ash. Other guys have to work for every little piece of ash they find.
my question is this. Did they name the Ash tree after they burned it? That is my #1 dislike is how much ash it produces.
