Startin' er up, 21⁰ now and supposed to be 16⁰ in the AM, it was about the same last night but I didn't double check the chimney like I wanted to before burning, I still have some anxiety firing this thing up after the chimney fire, that I don't think will ever go away.
That definitely wasn't last night. All the noise it made freaked me out and I ended up letting it go cold. I'm sure it's all just metal expansion from the heat but there were a few very different sounds than usual.
There will always be the clicking or pinging as metal heats. Can't do much about it except to accept it.
