Just watched 2 humming birds battle over my feeder. They went at each other for several minutes. Hovering and diving and swooping in on each other. One second they would be up in the tops of the tree and a moment later they would dive down to ground level only to go right back up. All the while attacking each other. They usually get pretty aggressive this time if year. It is more fun if there are three or more but we seem to have only 2 females hanging around this year.

You where about 10 minutes from my house!

Not much to say about Framingham other than we have to drive through it to get to more interesting places. Oh and its the largest town by population in Mass (there are some cities with fewer people, not sure what the logic is).

Many of the surrounding towns are quite beautiful however - Hopkinton (start of the Marathon), Natick has nice parts, Holliston (Im partial), etc....

Never tasted a Shiner, but I have a fondness for Oktoberfest beer. Will keep my eyes open for it.

Ive seen a few American Oktoberfests start to show up in the local stores - Sam Adams, and Becks. (Yes, I call becks an American, as they dont even import it anymore, its brewed locally in US now. And besides even when it was coming from Germany Becks was not a real Oktober since they brew in Bremen, not Munich.) Having said that, the Sam variety is quite good and Im enjoying one at this moment.

I'm still waiting on one or more of the 6 "official" Oktoberfests to come in... Should only be another week or two. Im particularly partial to Spaten and Hacker-Pschorr :)

I did the haying Friday and Saturday, put some insulation along the back wall of the garage, cleaned some more crud out of the garage, did a recycle run, waged chemical war on the hornet/wasp nest on the back of the house above the gutter, and most important of all I am now fermenting an Imperial Stout (had to see what the arm thought of handling a full fermenter, will do a batch of mead next.).

My pile to have the junk man haul away is growing, maybe I'll free up enough room in the garage so the car will fit.

We had a real gully washer(s) last night, it's one of the hardest rains we've had all year.

Same here but not quite the worst of the summer. The ground really needed it though and we did not burn a huge brush pile this weekend due to the dry conditions. Came close with the forecast of rain but chose on the side of caution. This weekend we took down about a dozen small diameter but tall nuisance trees as well as been cleaning up dead stuff in the woods.

It's been a wet month for us, burning today would be very safe but I still have lots of stacking left so the burning will have to wait.
