    I was notified via email through the site that member BDF has passed away. His wife Andrea informed me of his passing. Very sad to hear of a loss of one of our members or their family members., especially near the holidays. Take a few minutes and read his obituary, which is linked down below. He was an amazing fella.

    Please keep Brian, Andrea and his family in your thoughts and prayers as they are devastated from their loss at this time. Brian and his family will always be family to us here at the Firewood Hoarders Club. May God be with the family and may Brian rest in peace.

    BDF was hilarious fellow with a dry wit and amazing stories. He built several of his own stoves and in the Ideal Steel thread had added thermocouples to his stoves with charts and graphs..

    I had the honor of meeting him and his wife at a Woodstock Soapstone open house.

    Prayers for a peaceful rest, strength for his family.

    Brian had a great wit, fantastic and fun threads/posts to read. One of so many incredible things about this forum is that as long as we have FHC, we have a window to the thoughts and experiences of a great many members, voices to hear and learn from.

    I can imagine him in person though we never met. Their move to VA had me wanting to make the 2ish hour drive to meet up. Lower back issues for me stopped that.

    Prayers sent and I hope the family finds peace and heals. I will say, he looks a damm sight better than I do presently. I've contracted Non Hodgkins Lymphoma a very rare strain and my doctors have given me until the New Year to live without intervention. You can bet I'm gonna do everything I can to beat that date but it won't be easy. Hope I'm up to the task and I hope I can survive the treatment.

    Looking at a month in the hospital receiving a very potent chemo treatment. I'm not excited but I want to live a while longer. I still have people I want to pizz off...lol

    Prayers to Andrea and the rest of his family. I didn't know him well but we did chat quite a bit about kittens that were born in his garage - both before and after I drove down to RI to "take a look"and I brought two of them home with me.

    They were so welcoming when I got there and he was proud of all the work he had done on the house (rightly so). They encouraged me to take my time to see the different personalities within the litter. I must have spent more than an hour familiarizing myself with the kittens before making my choices (taking into account their favorites, since they wanted to keep at least 1). He was surprised that I brought a carrier with me, assuming I was kicking tires or would still have to make up my mind. Nah, I knew if I was going to drive that far, I'd definitely bring one home.

    RIP Brian and I wish Andrea peace of heart.
