Had the 261 and was hitting one of my BL stashes this afternoon, but on my way to the job i encounter this. Big sugar maple very fresh Asplundh work. The crew just up the street cutting. I make a mental note, continue on my way and find another crew next street over just down from where i was working. Primo straight wood. Postponed the BL cut and hit this after i finished job. Some old BL remnants were a bonus. Need bigger saw for trunk wood...22" DBH. Ill bring 500 tomorrow afternoon after rain ends. Asplundh guy brings his 372 over and stumps the maple. What a racket they have. The bucket guy finished less than a half hour after i arrived and the two of them hung around for a half hour. The chipper doubles nicely as a seat! It wasn't running ! They left and I finished loading. Nice pile of elm they took down. Not for me.

Well, to be honest, i wasnt gonna cut any maple until i saw the BL there. More buried under the maple and some old clean up remnants in the neighbors property which ill inquire about. I couldve cut more trunk wood, but had another place to be and unload too before dark.
Does this count toward the 9 cords of BL or is that just 2023? I'm sure I am not the only one that will be keeping track.
Yes it counts toward the BL tally. I will keep a rough running tally on the total. Whether its from a little stash or totally unexpected score like this. There a bit more buried under a big maple log. When i left i found some of their earlier cutting farther up the street and a couple big BL they took down! All the wood gone except some remnants.
Kings Highway and Hartford Turnpike working their way South. Two crews. Dont know how long they will be cutting. If you wanna go cut a load im always game. One crew said grapple truck was close behind so im grabbing it quick. You ever burn sugar maple? Really good stuff.

Hit the score this afternoon. 500i made easy work of the bigger maple. Some noodling, some sectioned with isocore. Dug up more BL too. Still more there including some bucked rounds i couldnt fit. Didnt wanna overload!

Yup. I could see midday gtg weekly knocking out some serious wood. The kiddo, Stumpy and I c, s, & loaded over 1/2 cord in about 3 hours together. If we didnt have foolish things like work, and we did a 6 hour day x5 days a week......You'd never be rid of us, or us, you. I'd have to quit my job or go PT.....
Was going to hit the score today, but upon arrival i found no wood there. Someone took the rest of where i was cutting including the gnarlies i left. They even cut some of the elm. I didnt check the next block over where the other crew was cutting. Went to cut BL farther up the road. Ill check next week.
Sounds like our summer Ash score. 2 days later and it was all gone. Looks like you got the best of the wood though, or at least most of the best . . . If even a dozen households in the area suddenly hoard wood, I bet roadkill scores will disappear quickly . . . not including us opportunists from outta town!
LOL!!! Very true. Its an upscale neighborhood. Had i not had a job there i wouldve missed out. I didnt check the other loaction. Had sugar maple but a huge yard (30"DBH) tree. Id bet its gone.
