Picked this 2020 dump trailer up today. Hydraulics and frame like new. Needs new lights, side boards need built up, and the tailgate needs some Mcgavering. Its a 10k gvw. Only 5×10 so to loosely get a cord in I think I'll need 4ft sides.
Congrats! 3' would almost do it...4' would be plenty for sure. I'm missing my old 5'x10' dump trailer lately...been hauling gravel in my truck...have to shovel it out of the truck, and then again has to be shoveled to its final destination...up to 7 tons now
Don't have any wood to move tomorrow and I want to play with my new toy...be willing to try some gravel
where did you score that from? I was just looking on craigslist for a dump trailer. Seemed scarce in NE ohio for a reasonable priced one. Found a few if I wanted to drive out of state. Of course reasonable being the key word and not needing one bad enough to make the drive.

I got overcharged for the tire but the rest seemed okay. Didn't have a a lot off choice on tire had to get it home
Probably more of an issue on trucks than trailers...they were our competition at a place I used to work at...heard lots of things from customers, no personal experience though.
Now to build up the sides. There are only stakepockets near the corners. Would I be able to get by using deckwood (5/4) instead of 2× for a 9 ft span with no center 2×4
I would think so if you join them together with a support of upright 5/4. Maybe even two. One third the way in each way. Have said supports rest on trailer side?
Or. Have any thin plate steel? That you could use to join the 5/4 together and make an upright that could rest on metal side of trailer?
