My buddy had the same issue with his 2011 Forester. Quart of oil every 1200 miles. 10% of their cars from 2011-2014, I believe it was, had massive oil burning problems. They originally tried to get out of it because they put in the manual that burning a quart every 1000 miles is "normal" lol. The were sued into taking care of the problem like they were with head gaskets. My wife had a 2012 Forester. It was trouble free in the 3 years she drove it but after them not standing behind their bad engines we sold it before there was an issue.

Like I said before. All makes have issues. How they address them goes a long way towards people's perception of quality / reliability. So far Honda and Toyota have been excellent for us. A Pontiac vibe being the sole Toyota we have owned.

They got 54mpg. I know cause I use to drive my mom's when I was in highschool. Was fun to drive that stick metro in a go cart kind of way! Could run all week on $5 of gas. This was back when gas was less than $1/gallon

Only thing that would suck in a metro or fistiva is if you get hit by anything bigger than a motorcycle you probably will need to jaws of life to get out of the car.

I agree with you. Thankfully we had I think around 150-200k on it without any major accident. I know my mom was rear ended at one point in it. But it just smashed up the rear gate. I think she was stiff after it but was it.

Auto's were 3 speed...my manual was 5 speed. (OD) Big difference in mileage due to cruising RPM

Yea I'm sure. I guess I was supporting your claim by saying my auto got 30mpg.

When test driving the Rav, we found it a little small and riding in the back seat felt like sitting on top of the axle. We went with the Highlander and very happy with it. The Highlander is registered as a truck due to the truck frame, but licensed as a car (WI).
