Newerish neighbor asked me if I ever burn because he never sees smoke from my chimney. He didn't believe me when I told him there was a fire going as we speak. He didn't believe the "heat waves" above the chimney, he had to see the stove!!!! So I let him in the front door.............his jaw dropped in amazement. Even had a tote full of wood ready for a reload close to the stove!!!!

Seeing the thermal waves and no smoke, always puts a smile on my face!

I believe he uses an Englander NC-13. A great choice.

This^^^ is true!! My 13 NC............I call it my "The Little Big Stove" because it does pump out the heat with not a lot of wood in it. This time of year; unless I forget to damp her down, she'll cruise around 5-600*F. But when it starts getting "COLD"..............and for you rebels, 40*F ain't cold.............below about 20*F she starts cruising in the 650-700*F range and really starts "going to town"!!!!

It's really funny how ignorant some folks are...............and I type "ignorant" in the way it's supposed to be used..............as in "not knowing". They assume FIRE=SMOKE................and that's not the case. I burn yard waste(tree limbs and such) and junk mail in an outside burn barrel and I strive to make sure I have a hot fire to minimize smoke. Hot fire=little smoke...................same goes for our wood stoves.
