First ride of 22/23 season was nice we went out the last hour of light and the first hour of dark. Love riding at night something special about the light reflecting off the snow covered trees. 0E0515F2-E1B2-4165-AA06-D56F2600EEE8.jpeg 887E32A4-5379-4511-AA84-830904886866.jpeg 617DB350-4F00-4FB1-A48E-81D9BC25A755.jpeg 60EC2BAE-0C17-45D9-BC25-9E20D17EE08A.jpeg E6E4C058-EC0B-4B8C-B900-6816EB7D15FC.jpeg FF355781-0453-4DE6-B011-8B141DABDECD.jpeg

I do too. Mostly checking wolf traps. Never know what you'll see. I like the night sky too.

Did some boondocking today did a few high speed runs on some unplowed roads. Nice day to have some one on one time with my oldest. 817345EE-6169-4719-9C8A-A1389EFEA1CA.jpeg 88B69D9F-5E70-48E6-BBC3-967F3C2D5C24.jpeg D33A80F7-7225-49CC-B09F-45F11780EC3E.jpeg D619D150-FCB4-4BF3-9874-442F677171BE.jpeg 6CB07DEF-FF95-4B33-9D10-FF20743A46AF.jpeg

I used to love night rides. First, its great that you can obviously see if someone is coming around that corner, but mostly, it was awesome when we would stop for a break and if it was a full moon, it was almost like daylight if you stopped in an open area with the moonlight reflecting off the snow. Something very peaceful about that to me.

We decided that we wanted stew for supper, before going home rode to the grocery store for a fresh baked loaf of bread.

We don’t have to trailer the machines to go for a ride most of the time we ride from the house.

Parked at the grocery store. Had one offer wanting to buy the blue sled.

Had 4 snow machines at one time including an AC Thundercat Lake Racer with 300 picks in the track. All gone and I don't miss them one bit. Sleds have to be the fastest depreciating motor vehicle ever invented.

Sleds, boats and airplanes are an Alaskan way of life, they hold their values here. As an example the old Tundras and Bravos don’t last 48 hours with a $4,000-$5,000 price tag. Last single lung Tundra that I bought ‘02 was$2,300 and I sold it in ‘13 for $4,300.

My two single lung tundras are still running great and would sell quickly here too. They are for ice fishing, dragging deer, firewood hauling, and packing our trails. They are great simple reliable old working machines for sure. Trapper here love them too.

They are really hard not to like. I have a Tundra long track with 600ACE (four stroke) and get fantastic fuel mileage 20mpg pulling a sleigh. I harvested a 60” winter moose Tundra got us to the trailer in one trip. B5D44F55-F2FB-499A-AF87-F5947A6BC16C.jpeg

That looks like a dandy moose Tom. Congratulations on that and I bet the meat is delicious.

Snow machines are great...if you live where they can be used a decent amount. For example, here in MI they were handy and fun when we lived in the UP and at Gaylord, where there was lots of snow and it stayed for many months. Where we live now, not so good. ATV is better here but even those seem to be disappearing in favor of the UTV's.
