The cold air has left us for the time being and moved to the east. Were sitting this morning at a pleasant -8c/17f. Larch and fir keeping the house toasty.

About the same here. I’ve had enough of it. I wouldn’t complain one bit if it was 30 degrees colder.

Sheesh, had an ice storm Wednesday night, everything is covered in 1/2 inch of ice. In the 20's. Burning Elm and Silver Maple.

Something interesting about the wood pile for this year is the Black Walnut that I score a couple years ago. Heat output on the is on par with Green Ash. Not to shabby

Tomorrow will be first day of the heating season. I'll leave the boiler lit and turn on the radiant heat control panel after I get back from hunting in the morning.

It takes this house a long time to cool down so it doubt it will call for much heat until Sunday night.

Just below zero here. Getting colder by the minute. Came in from scouting and my beard is a frozen mess. Going to build a fire in the sauna in a few.

How the heck is that even possible?!?! I thought temperature swings here in New England were bad… The saying is “if you don’t like the weather, wait a minute”. I think you Missouri boys have us beat by a long shot.

We get swings like that here too in spring and fall. All my rigs have more clothes than a thrift store.

Today is supposed to be the last day for a while when we won't see 40 or above. 41 predicted for today then mostly in 20's and 30's.

Same here, winter has arrived in the heartland. 19f out with the stove putting along. Tried the cat bake/bath before starting the stove and seems to working well on year 3.
