    Neighbors have acres of woods here in northwestern Missouri and they let me have whatever is dead or fallen down. Any idea what this is that I have and if it is good for burning in my wood stove? :)

    Id say walnut too. Only have cut a small amount and it hand splits like cake.

    Check for a "chambered" center pith in the splits. If so its BW. IMG_1977.JPG

    Depends. The black walnut being viewed as "valuable" is a lot more work to make it that way. Plus many don't pass muster. Many would post their ever-valuable tree for hundreds or thousands stating "you can still make money!".... provided you had the right equipment.

    Yep Walnut… love me walnut…. Easy to work with… good smell processing it… dries pretty quickly… Congrats on a nice find…
