I will say that I love my 40cc Makita ea4300, so, maybe I should buy a 5001! I sharpened the chain on the 4300 yesterday with my Dremel and bucked some wood just to remind me! And mine is blue!

I've owned the 362 for about 10 years. Had an 026 before that and really liked it. I just wanted to explore all possibilities. My MS 250 serves for now as backup and small saw. I may decide to stay that route. If I did go with the MS 261, it would allow me some more power to have on "one saw trips" where I don't have a lot of room.

It might as well be. If I had a bit more ambition I'd strip mine and turn it into a proper Dolmar. I try to concentrate on chips n noodles flying out of it vs that _ _ _ color.

I was "stuck" with only my 261 at a score recently and it bucked 22" solid dead barkless ash with a 16" bar. Wasnt planning on cutting that particular day and hadnt seen the wood other than pics otherwise wouldve had a bigger cc saw. I have run a 20" bar and buried it in wood and it cut it. Prefer 16" for my cutting style.
Best of luck with what you decide.

It really is too bad that Makita has put all the nails in Dolmar's coffin. Still a Makita power tool fan though.

My vote is 261CM, for the long road. It's almost like someone told Stihl they COULDN'T screw that one up. (or else....)

Mine is ported though, and that just makes it that much better.

Agreed. I like all my saws but something about those Dolmar / Makitas.

Smurfs live in the forest, it's a proper color for a chainsaw. It also looks dead sexy.
