I ran over a male squirrel once...i heard his nuts crack! Fact Checker: Do Squirrels Bite Testicles Off Other Squirrels?
Red squirrels are the devil. Chew on and into houses, eat wiring, cause fires from this, chase off the grey and fox squirrels too. Grey and fox squirrels won't typically attempt to chew into your home like red's.
He got famous on PBS TV for his show Nature Scene. I don't recall him ever being a state biologist. He called himself a naturalist. Now I believe he is an associate professor at USC . But I don't believe he was a state employee, I could be wrong though .
Believe that might just be a fox squirrel. There all kinds of colors, grey, reddish, black, white and all combinations of the previous it seems.
Yep, you are right. I am thinking about Cam Lay. He had a call in show on PBS. I remember calling in several times when I had a large meat rabbitry/vermicompost operation in Cross SC. I tried using Alabama jumpers for worms for a while, before switch back to red wigglers. Been awhile. Thanks for straightening me out. He was who I talked to about black and white Southern Flying Squirrel too.
Never seen them in these parts. First time I saw one was upstate NY 1000 islands area. I hear squirrel brains are or were a delicacy. A bunch of squirrel-brain eating folk caught a similar type disease to mad cow disease. I know folks say they taste great......
I've eaten plenty of squirrel in the past, but never the brains. Used to cook em up like chicken wings. Have way too many of the da## red squirrels at our current property, but in Olean, there are grey and black squirrels everywhere. City even put out squirrel statues around town. I guess a lot of businesses put up $$ to have their business represented.
I'd give squirrel a go, I hear way to many people saying how good it is. I'll pretty much try anything at least one time barring it's not moving, biting back, or has a nasty smell.
I'd have to think hard on that one! Eating a rodent might be a bit different, only thing is, they are eating nuts and things, not trash.
