I noticed on my Stihl 391, with 20'' bar, the bar number 3003 000 9421 is O.E.M. for the 460R . Rescue saw. ( pitch: .375/ gauge .063) With a web search I see that it runs a #36 RDR 72 o.e.m. chain. I wanted to order a couple for this winter from Bailey's in the Woodland Pro brand. Do you have any recommendations? I will be felling white oak and hedge mostly, 14'' dia. trees on the average. 4 cords at most. Thanks for your advice.
I'm confused by your post my fault. Both saws can use the same bar and chain. I would recommend a semi chisel chain. Your gauge will be etched in your bar. .050 or .058 or .063 Hope this helps

I have run woodland pro. I liked it but baileys has horrendous shipping prices so I rarely order from there. Last chains I have bought were off ebay. I like stihl oregon woodland pro and some do greater chains have seemed ok as well
Clemsonfor, I am in southeast Ks. Got saw in Independence Ks. at Linn's air cooled engine shop. I see that its a oddball size. The bar came with the saw. At the time I didn't have a clue as to witch bar should of came with it. Is there a difference in the regular bar and rescue bar? Besides the 3/8'' instead of the standard 0.050? I guess what I need to know is, will a regular sawblade run okay on it?
36RDR is going to run you a couple hundred bucks a loop. (Rescue Carbide chain). Sure you want spares? You would have better luck using 36RS (chisel) or 36RM (semi-chisel). You most likely have 36RM3 (semi-chisel reduced kickback) on the saw now if it's the factory chain and using 36RS or it's Woodland Pro equivalent would be a nice upgrade in cutting speed I'm sure.
To add onto what MasterMech said, you can run any chain that is 72DL x 3/8" x .063 What those numbers mean, is its 72 Drive links (for your 20" bar, you must always buy a 72 dl chain), the 3/8" (is the pitch of the chain, or also seen as .375), and finally the .063 is the bar gap width. Funny I just bought a new loop of 36 RS 72 the other day - they didn't have them on the display rack, I had to show the salesman(kid really)where they keep them in the drawer
