40" stump White oak that gave us fits.firts off it's a 9 foot drop off behind it to the creek. Then there is the split that happened betweened the forks. Making sure they didn't go in the creek because we are in such a drought don't won't to block water for downstream users. Long story short tree fell on me! Pulling with a 100 horse 4x4 tractor and still didn't go where we wanted. I'm ok couple busted ribs but I'm not dead. Told my buddy and dad I been kilt before and I'm still alive. Lol. Seriously though things can happen any time, please be careful fellers. I may not know you but I want you to go home every day. Cut some dead pines about 24"dbh just to get them on the ground. Then cut and split a nice Red oak. Won't let upload pics. Been having some trouble with that. Maybe someone can help.
SCARY stuff! Glad you are okay. It happens FAST. How long will you be down and out? Heal up fast my friend.
Glad you are alright trapper brad . Try cropping down photos that won't upload, sometimes they won't load because the file is too large. Take care.
Probably shouldn't have but worked through rest of the day. Can't hardly move tonight. Interesting jacuzzi now
Jeez Brad. Glad you are alive to tell the story. That’s a behemoth tree, could very well be a different outcome.
It's was one fork, cut it up high. But yes outcome could have been catastrophic. Scared my dad real bad. Me too. Never thought it was coming my way so when I heard it and it hit me I thought for the first time in my life that I was really dead. Only thing I can think of right now my grandma used to say was God watches out for babies and dummies and I'm no baby.
I seized my 261xs husky last week. If I would have had it this probably wouldn't have happened lol. It's back at Kevin's getting fixed.
Last fall, one guy I sell firewood said his dad died cutting a tree down in the woods recently. Within the last month spoke with another lady through work who shared that her husband died cutting a tree down in the woods with their adult son in 2017. Sure can be dangerous work and thanking God tonight that you’re able to go home
Sorry to hear this my friend. Glad you're on the right side of the grass. We do all need to be careful out there. Its dangerous work for sure.
