I've had this red oak stacked on the side of my driveway for over a month. It was a nice morning to split it and truck it to the stacking area. Then the sun came out. In the words of Navin Johnson's family - "The Lord loves a workin' man!

    Wishing everyone a great weekend.

And after I got the oak stacked I got right into the river birch that was dumped out back week before last.

Great work Buck. Was a nice day for it. What are your thoughts on the river birch?

Howdy Brad. My thoughts: Stringy, did not split as easily as I thought it would (but no problem with the splitter), splits from larger logs are heavy (which I attribute to water), bark very messy on the smaller logs with all that curly, peeling stuff, did not notice any aroma. We'll see how it burns in a year.

I cut and split the main trunk today. Heavy, heavy, heavy! And when that splitter ram went in water oozed out the cut surface like a sponge being squeezed. Got it all done.

Yes i remember it being heavy and the maul just sinking into it when i tried to section the bigguns for loading. Funny as i did a delivery today and there was one piece of it that worked its way into this stack.
Yours should be good for next Fall's SS.

I like the splitter. As we run the same one now.
