Was still using the A/C in Sep a little. Not like I keep the house ice cold all day, 79ºF to 81 ºF is fine with me, but I'm finding as I get older it it tougher to fall asleep if it is too warm. So I now have a second A/C unit in the bedroom. I used to be content with a fan in the window but some nights it takes all night to cool off.
I was hoping my generation service charge change would take effect for the September bill but it didn't happen. I joined the local co-op and my rate is supposed to go down to 10.x¢/kwh soon. Rate locked in until Dec 2023.

Our refuse pickup bill went up a bunch today. Went from 60 to 90 bucks for 3 months. Gotta pay for that expensive diesel I guess.

A friend got some a few weeks ago for 3.88. Monday it was 5.13 from the same dealer. Glad I have plenty from 2020, the good days, and only use it when we go away

HHO $5.72 at cash heating oil today.
Not sure it was this high even just after the war started in Ukraine.

It’s only going to get worse too. Funny how they all stopped laughing about us hoarding firewood.

Got nothing to do with the war in Ukraine, just saying. Has more to do with domestic energy policy.

I often wonder what people think when Im out there in all weather, cutting and splitting and loading on the side of the road, throwing wood at home, stacking, all on really hot sweaty hot days, at 2am with a head lamp after work, on holidays, weekends......
They're heading for a party, enjoying their AC, spending every weekend at the beach/pool/by the campfire, partying it up.....what are they thinking about us?

And then I'll be wondering what they're thinking when they want a steal on a cord of wood to heat their homes......I'll wonder how they enjoyed their parties, pools, videogames in their AC all summer...

    Like a steal....not to steal.
I.e. want a bargain or get snooty when they think I'm asking a lot.

Aww man, where did it go?? Such a shame, it was catchy . Not sure what it was intended for, but I immediately found it to be applicable and fitting for all the dealings of the inhabitant of a big old house over the last 23 ish months....

There are also the ones who actually use firewood (to some extent) to heat their homes but as you said, want to 'play' all summer, so they end up burning wet firewood. Down time is nice, but I see many homes that I know burn firewood spewing that thick smoke out of their chimneys come fall/winter because they didn't put any effort into properly processing and drying their firewood.

Yup. We have one of those. I enjoy the smell driving down into the valley, but I'm not sure those at the same elevation enjoyed it as much. I was more concerned that someone would call the town and cause issues for the rest of us.
Their chimney is not even close to legal, and the wood he burned obviously hadn't been seasoned more than a few minutes.

This thread makes me so glad I invested in an electric car and solar panels. I don't have to buy gas or electric. Plus its the fastest car I've ever owned.
