Kinda like old friends. I delivered 3/4 cord to a local customer last week. Have to stack in her garage. She normally gets a full cord, but didnt burn through it all. When i went to stack the new stuff i recognized one of the splits from last year! You definitely put your heart into it and it shows.
Depends… let it sit in bucked form for a summer and it splits pretty good…. Still a hydraulic job… gives good heat too…And fairly fast drying… it gets a bad rep like pine…
Red Elm isn't too difficult to split with my Fiskars as long as it's fairly fresh cut.............................it's the American and Chinese Elm that are the stringy SOB's that even hydraulics can have a time with.
You look like a man on a mission! Great splitting my friend and glad to see you take part! That’s a lot of rounds.
Elm is one of the worst I’ve hand split other than sycamore. The one I did was dead and seemed to be dry but some of the hardest I’ve ever had to split I believe.
