Is this hickory ?

    Looks like hickory nut bark to me , although my audience doesn’t agree ?

    5 miles South of the "cheddar curtain".
    The bark looks like hickory. Are there any nuts laying around, or did the cattle get them?? Got a leaf picture???? Remember; hickory has a compound leave with a bunch of leaflets. Go all the way to the bud to find the whole leave.

    Yep , there’s a batch of hickory nut trees around . I’d say it’s going to the outside fire pit

    Hickory doesn't grow around me but could you split some and keep some good pieces for your smoker?

    Yep you got shagbark hickory there, good stuff. Get it split soon and you'll have some good heat/cooking wood.

    It'll still put some heat out. But yeah, she's spalted snd somewhat punky in some of the rounds I see
