I headed to my brother's place to help fell some trees and clear brush. NH is between here and there. Nice color even if muted from overcast I'm well into Maine. Here's a local landmark There's a cable stay Bridge at the Penobscot narrows In other direction. Oh yeah.... wooding. Trees were shading a garden area as well as the lawn, causing moss to take over. Some sugar maples and various birches are down. I used my 350 and put ~2.5 tanks of fuel through it. Lots of rocks to avoid His backyard with brush We grabbed a sandwich and had lunch near a Tidal river. Being done with wooding, we took a ride the next day to Bar Harbor to get some gifts. There were a couple of cruise ships, which resulted in lots of people being around A nice place to visit and walk around. We had a burger and beer at an Irish tavern. Then bailed outta there and got back to his place. I left to go there on Monday and got back home today. About a 5hr drive Lots of color driving around. Too bad the approaching storm will blow the leaves off. Feels good to be back home.
Down Town there gets pretty busy in the summer. I can't imagine how bad it must be now that they are letting cruise ships in.
great pics. looks like a good time was had. Imagine single-handing that wee sailing vessel isn't an option!
I'm jealous, had plans to go this fall but with fuel prices this summer and other issues needing addressed on my camper I couldn't make it happen. Wanted to go for a week plus to scout out some property so I can move.
You didn't do the obligatory stop at the Kittery Trading Post? Haven't been there since the mid 80's but it was always a cool spot.
I went up to Fryeburg for the fair. I love it up there. If I knew I could find a decent paying job, I'd be gone from Taxachusestts.
We haven't been to see Stinny and his lovely bride for several years, I'm sure missing Maine! Great pics, Mike. Looks like a nice time was had.
a friend of my fathers moved up to Jackson, NH probably 15 years ago, so he was likely about 55ish. He really struggled to find a good paying job up there after a very successful corporate career. They just didnt want to pay what he was worth. The one place that did was a mess of a trailer park in Conway. He turned the place around, and then was promptly replaced by someone at a fraction of his salary. He's a manager at the Conway railroad now, and enjoys life.
