The string of milder winters here may have finally ended, if last years' snowmageddon is any kind of indicator. A bunch of snowmobilers sold their machines in SW Michigan 12 years ago 'cause not enough snow accumulation. Stinging & normal snow = yup, a 100% chance we will have winter.
Odd, I heard that the Almanac was reporting that the entire Northeast was going to be much colder than normal.
I can predict Alaska's 2015 Almanac : 6 months of Snow, Cold & Darkness , Nov thru Apr 1st snow by Oct 30th. Dark , cold & snowy December with a few sub zero nights. Then a January 40° thaw, followed by sub zero temps & high winds thru Feb . 20° range with Snow in March. April (sucks by the way ) begins "breakup". Melts in May
Stinging cold is when it is 45 to 50 degrees it starts raining and you're going 70 mph on a motorcycle
Winter in Maine? Yes, but not that ice chit like winter started off with last year. Yuk! Those bent over big birch never went back up. I had them all removed. Enough already.
I'm in the "crisp and very stormy" area..lol.. What in the world is that?? Back in 2002 and 2003 I drove a truck all over the 48 and Canada. I used to do a lot up in Quebec and I remember ice being like a daily event up there. I pulled a lot of oversize from Maine to Becancour, QC and it got to the point where freezing rain was like rain with the frequency of it. Didn't really bother me that much back then when I was 21-22. I've been pulling doubles since late 2003 and the thought of freezing rain makes me nervous now. I've worked at the same company for 11 years and moved to Southeastern Pa when I got the chance in 2009 so I didn't have to deal with I80 across Pa anymore. Now I go south into Va which is really nice but an inch of snow is like Armageddon x2 with the motoring public down there..lol.. I'm 33 and have been driving a truck since I was 21.. Hence the name drvn4wood..
Yup, the sun's gonna come up tomorrow morning, I still gotta pay taxes, and its gonna be snowy and cold this winter. There, predictions are over. Now bring er' on, gots lotsa wood.
I hate the thoughts of it. Ice storms are usually the only things that leaves us without power. Even thought my property abuts the high tension power lines, my road, being a dead end with few residents on it, is low on the priority list for fixing. In fact, there was a tree hanging over the road for three days before someone came and cut it so there was better access. I was afraid of scratching the car trying to drive under it with all those ice covered limbs hanging on the ground.
