After another long hiatus, I am back again getting ready to cut the logs I have on the ground. Tomorrow I'll be going to the lumber yard for a mix of 2X6", 2X4" and either 4X4" skids or 6X6". I have pallets to make the sides and top. There will be 3 of them creating a U. I've already purchased 2 tons of the Envi blocks. I'm looking into pallet scraps to burn as well. Does anyone have any experience burning them? According to the owner of the manufacture of the pallets, they are not pressure treated or kiln dried until after they are put together. I've heard you can get a ton for $25. Let me know any concerns. Oh if you don't recall, I fixed the problem of heating our family room with 2 wall heaters. They have an app that allows me to schedule them. It reduced our electricity last year. This year RI Energy is increasing our rates from .109 to .174. That is what they claim. My current rate is .078. It's going to be one hell of a jump. Looking to put a wood stove in there. At the same time the EPA is screwing all of us with their crazy ideas. Jason from RI
Is a boiler possible? We heat 2600 SF house and 1500 SF garage all radian plus DHW on 8 cord or less.
It's a 24'X14 room above a garage. A wood stove was in there previously and the rooms next to it benefitted. I paid $4.57 today for oil. Kicking myself as I called 2 weeks and the price was $3.86. I hoped the price would go lower.
Disclaimer - Wife had a picture: Yesterday my son and I cut and split the logs where I plan to put three 1cord wood racks. The logs yielded about a cord and a half. I did leave some rounds that still need to be split and one log that I need to drag out. Beyond that I still have another 2 cords of logs left to cut next that area. The wood racks I decided to build are a combination of pressure treated wood for the base/floor joists. Regular 2X4' - 24" on center for the walls with pallets to fill in the exterior walls and floor. The roof will be a sheet of plywood. Each one will be 5'X4' and 8' tall in the front. Similar to the one I have by our front door. They will be on 4X4" skids to allow for them to be moved. I contacted our town, and was informed I could not put a permanent structure that close to the road. Personally I want to build it anyways, but I'd hate to have to take it down. This is my compromise.
Oh I forgot to say that between Saturday getting rid of a trash compactor from my dad's apartment (we are renting it out.) and yesterday with the wood, I've put my lower back out. I did something to my shoulder last week and picked up CBD balm at CVS. Wow did it work on the shoulder. I put the CBD on my legs and left shoulder last night. Well worth it. Should have put it on my lower back at that time. My wife put it on this morning. Man does my back kill me right now. Hopefully the CBD will take care of it shortly. There is no THC in this product. If you have sore muscles or put out your back, I recommend CBD. It's only 300mcg. I read that you should start with a lower dose.
